Dog Agility Training
I saw a program on TV that showed a dog agility competition. It looked like a lot of fun for both the handlers and the dogs, so I thought, why not try it with Casey, my Jack Russell Terrier? I’ve been told this breed does well at this type of competition. Jack Russells have so much energy and are always running and jumping around, so they ought to be a natural at agility competitions. Casey is a typical Jack Russell. He can wear me out.
I ordered some special training equipment from a place where I often buy discount pet supplies. My sister gets discount cat supplies there. I got a ring jump, a bar jump, a tunnel. Casey has always been an easy dog to train. I set everything up in the backyard, and almost before I finished doing that, Casey was zooming through the tunnel by himself. As for the jumps, all I had to do was stand on the other side of them and snap my fingers at the right height. It was just a question of getting him to do all that faster.
He picked up on the moves so quickly, it looks like I need to get him some more challenging things. And maybe enter him in his first contest.

Dogs love this kind of stuff, especially with their owners. While I don’t have a Jack Russell, my dog loves it when I throw her favorite squeaky toys and run around the backyard with her. Sounds like the two of you are having fun and getting exercise too!
