Use Cloth Diapers to Make the Transition During Potty Training

Potting training can be difficult for many parents and requires a lot of patience.  There are often accidents and frustration which can lead to putting diapers back on.  However, a few months ago I spoke with a family friend who made a lot of sense and offered some suggestions about the process.

She said she used a cloth diaper to transition from disposable, to diapers, to going on the potty full time.  She explained that the cotton cloth diapers are more similar to the undergarments that toddlers wear.  Although they notice a difference they also have some insurance that if an accident does occur it won’t be as messy as if wearing a thin pair of underpants.  Not only is it an easier transition to go to cloth diapers it is also more cost effective because the cloth diapers are washable.

I started using the cloth diapers in my potty training efforts and have found that there has been a notable difference in how my son is responding to the discipline.  There have been fewer accidents and I am cleaning the crib bedding less often.  Every child is different but based on my experience it seems this method is worth trying.
