Tattoos
Tattoos are a pretty standard ‘gift’ for a birthday boy or girl. I see many people come in on their birthday’s asking for fairy tattoos or more recently Gemini tattoos. I’m blown away by the number of customers that actually come in on their birthday. You would think that it would be a majority of the seventeen-turn-eighteen year olds that want to cast their adolescence by getting a barely visible tattoo on one of their shoulder blades, but that isn’t the case. I see more twenty-somethings that want to get something ‘interesting’ to remember their twentieth, twenty-fifth, or even thirtieth birthday.
I’m most certainly not opposed since birthday tattoos usually mean some good money. As an artist I really thrive off of the tips, so if customers come in on their birthday I make sure to tell them to bring their friends in on their birthdays as well! The more the merrier. There have been a lot of birthdays this month so my tip jar is looking quite good. I’ve been trying not to tap into the jar too much because I’ve been meaning to buy a car. I think I’ve almost worked up a decent down payment in tips alone the last couple of months.
