Open Your Business in Style
The best grand opening I ever went to was one for a small local bookstore. It was by invitation only, so employees, friends, etc. all invited people they knew, especially if they had any connections to the press. There was food, prizes, and plenty of time to chat.
But what really made the grand opening unique was that it had a theme in keeping with the rest of the bookstore. The store itself was kind of Halloween-themed; they had curtains on the windows that reminded you of something Dracula might have, a whole collection of “haunted” artifacts purchased off eBay, and plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down and read, just like a spooky but treasure-laden attic.
Doing something like this ensures that you will get off to a good start in the neighborhood where you are opening up your business. Be sure to invite locals as well as the press — after all, the local neighborhood will be your main source of customers!
Don’t forget though to take precautions to keep customers out of where you don’t want them to go. Crowd control barriers of some sort, such as a tensabarrier, are great for that. They keep customers out without looking tacky or industrial.
However you do it, though, just make sure you conduct your grand opening in style. The bigger the impression you make, the better!
