If you enjoy being on the golf course playing golf and you want to get trained for golf course jobs, you will need to certification, an AA degree, or a Bachelor’s degree to work in some capacity at the golf course. Golf courses typically use chemicals which require certification to apply, and managing a golf course is a complicated business. Fortunately, golf schools exist to teach people how to execute their jobs on the course.
A golf course operator needs to know so much to do the job well, and not only does the operator have to rely on people to keep the course running smoothly, they also need to rely on marketing systems to help them recruit and keep new members and more players. When studying golf course management, students learn everything from A to Z about their particular specialty, but the manager has to learn almost everything about the golf course because they are responsible for it.
Besides the physical tasks of caring for the golf course, the golf course management has to make sure that the course is operating in the black, and learning the techniques to keep a golf course profitable is part and parcel of the training when enrolled in a golf course management major. It could be one of the most important parts of their education.
