Getting Rid of Paper Files
I have a big goal for my home office. That goal is to get rid of all of my paper files before the end of the year. That may not sound like a big goal to you. That’s because you haven’t seen my office. It has more boxes of paper than you could ever sort through in the next few months. And yet, I aim to do it.
I’ve decided that I want to go all digital with my storage system. I’m just sick of being surrounded by these pieces of paper. They take up too much room. I can never find what I’m actually looking for in this mess. And I occasionally wonder what I would do if these files were damaged by fire or water or some other disaster because I don’t have any backups for them. Digital copies of everything sounds like a great solution to me.
Of course, I don’t actually know anything about technology stuff. I can’t tell data capture systems from network servers; it’s all Greek to me. That’s why I’m planning to hire a document imaging service to assist me in this endeavor. Well, that’s the main reason. The other reason is that I need to be accountable to someone else for getting this all done or I might put it off another year! It’s a big job but I’ll be glad when it’s done.
